“America is the country of the future. It is a country of beginnings, of projects, of vast designs and expectations.” - Emerson, 1844
New York City Accelerator for a Clean and Renewable Economy (NYC ACRE) is an incubator for clean technology and renewable energy start-up companies that are helping to transition New York City to a low-carbon future. We are a community of entrepreneurs who work together to envision a more prosperous economy driven by a clean energy revolution.
Chosen through a rigorously competitive selection process, NYC ACRE brings together the most promising New York cleantech entrepreneurs and fosters their growth through a suite of supportive services. Physical tenants are provided with permanent office space within the NYC ACRE headquarters, located in the heart of Soho at 160 Varick Street, where the open floor plan nurtures innovation through the continuous exchange of ideas between entrepreneurs. Virtual tenants benefit from the same level of assistance as physical tenants, including access to conference room facilities of the headquarters, without permanent office space. The incubator currently has five physical tenants and three virtual tenants, and works closely with the New York venture community to help our tenants access growth capital.
NYC ACRE is the cleantech/renewable energy initiative of NYU-Poly, seeded by a four year, $1.5M grant from the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) aimed at growing an ecosystem of entrepreneurs, international companies, and innovative local businesses that provide solutions to climate and energy issues while growing the cleantech/renewable energy sector and creating jobs in NYC. New York is our market and our home, as well as the epicenter of possibility in the human imagination, and the preeminent destination for innovators who change the world. We believe that clean technology and renewable energy are where the new jobs are, and we are committed to doing the hard work to lead the way.
